To Our Valued Customers,
At New Jersey Respiratory, we have always strived to bill our customers only for the days a patient is actively in the building. To do this accurately, we rely on receiving timely notification whenever a patient is discharged or placed on bed hold. Without that notice, we risk lost revenue from equipment that remains at the facility but is no longer in use.
To help avoid this, we offer automated weekly rental lists along with delivery and pickup confirmations for each transaction. These tools are designed to make it easier for our partners to track and manage their rental inventory.
That being said, we recognize the need to protect ourselves as well. Effective January 1, 2026, we will be implementing the following safeguards:
1. Rental Billing Safeguard
If a patient is discharged or placed on bed hold on or before the 15th of the billing month, and New Jersey Respiratory is not notified before the end of that month, a full month’s rental fee will be assessed for the machine assigned to that patient.
In other words, if we are notified after month-end that a patient was discharged or placed on bed hold on or before the 15th, the full month’s rental will still apply.
2. Lost Machine Process
If a machine is deemed lost by the end of the month, the facility will be billed for the full replacement cost of the machine. New Jersey Respiratory will work with facility staff and our technicians to attempt to locate the equipment. If the machine is later found, the cost of the machine will be credited back to the facility; however, a fee of $100 per month will still apply to cover the time, effort, and lost rental revenue incurred during the process.
3. Machines Taken Home with Patients
It is the facility’s responsibility to ensure that equipment does not leave the premises with a patient. If a machine is taken home by a patient, it will be deemed lost, and the facility will be charged for the cost of the machine unless written email permission was provided to either (a) allow the facility to cover the cost of the machine while the patient is home and subsequently return the machine, or (b) transfer the rental to the patient under a private pay agreement. Should the machine be recovered, the replacement cost will be credited back to the facility, but a fee of $100 per month will still be assessed to account for the time and lost revenue.
We value being able to extend billing flexibility to our customers and want to continue offering it. To do so fairly, we need to ensure consistent and timely communication and accountability for equipment. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.
Kind regards,
Danielle Finkelstein
